Lazy Saturday

What a lazy Saturday.  We didn't really do a whole lot today, although Keely completely passed out at 7:40 which means something must have worn her out!  Grades were posted today and I found out I received all A's!  Hooray!  I think that means I can celebrate by eating way too much delicious dessert....ice cream anyone?  Two more classes and then I will officially be a UCF grad!  Less than 3 months until graduation!  It's so close I can almost reach it...but not quite.  Hopefully soon after I will start nursing school...I just have to get in somewhere first.

I only wish I had more than 2 weeks of a break before classes start again.  One week has already flown by!  We've played in the baby pool, hung out with some awesome friends, gone to the zoo, eaten dinner out at Maggiano's, did a little shopping, and had all sorts of play time.  Hopefully this week we can take a few ridiculously long naps together.  In fact, I'm hoping that my Mother's Day gift tomorrow is a nice long nap.  For now, I'm going to relax with a book...and possibly fall asleep.  Happy Mother's Day!  I hope all the mommies get a day of relaxation because I think that's what we could all use most!

It's been so long

Oh.  Hi There.  I missed you.  You are so sad and forlorn.  Online classes finally dragged me down to the point where I was doing nothing else.  But, on the bright side, you are still here even after all that time.  And now...now I wait for grades to be posted.  I think I got all A's...but you never really know until they post the dreaded grades.  So while we wait for those grades, lets catch up.  We have plans to go to Wildwood on May 24th for a few nights.  I don't think either of us could be more excited than we are.  The wee-one doesn't really know what's going on, but she already loves the beach and the outside so I'm sure she'll have a good time.  Now we are just praying for nice weather that week.  I have signed up for my last set of classes as an undergrad at UCF, so I will officially be a college graduate on August 7th....FINALLY.  My nursing school prerequisites are all registered for.  I am taking Anatomy and Physiology I this summer (at the same time as my other two classes....this should be fun!)  I am taking Anatomy and Physiology II and Chemistry this fall (I already took Chemistry, but I opted out of the lab, hindsight could have saved me on this one but alas).  Soon I will be sending out applications to school.  I am terrified that I won't get in anywhere, so I'm really crossing my fingers to get good grades in these courses.  And now, onto something more fun!

How pretty is that nail polish?  And it's only $0.99.  Less than a dollar for nail polish?  Indeed.  It's from this German brand called Essence that just recently was brought over to the U.S.  Right now I think the brand is only sold at Ulta, but I could be mistaken.  I'm in love though.  They have a ton of other products that are all really inexpensive.  Which I'm pretty sure is why I haven't made it over yet.  I'm pretty sure I'd want to buy every single color of pretty nail polish they have...and apparently that's unreasonable due to the fact that I very rarely paint my nails.

Anyways, hopefully I will be able to make some extra time for you my forgiving blog.  Since I have until the 17th for classes to start and all.

Thoughts for the day...

Spoons, when in the hands of a tiny person, function as tiny catapults.  Suction bottom bowls, when stacked inside of a normal ceramic bowl, will create a suction so strong that it is irreversible.

Spring Break!

As a student/mom I often feel like I get very little no time off.  Not to say that I want time off from certain responsibilities (I wish I had more time to give to Keely).  However, I don't really enjoy spending every second while Keely is sleeping and I am awake doing school work.  I feel like I miss out on doing some pretty awesome stuff when I'm stuck reading book...after book....after book... (you get the idea, I read many books) for school.  Of course I am gaining important knowledge and seeking enlightenment while reading.  This is not the point.  The point is that I really enjoy spending one on one time with Brandon.  I enjoy knitting.  I enjoy reading books that were written with only the purpose of entertainment in mind.  I enjoy going to movies and watching TV.  I enjoy playing outside with Keely.  I enjoy thrift store shopping in the city and eating cheese steaks.  And sometimes when I get so far into school that I feel like I'm drowning, I don't do the things that I enjoy which might actually help me feel like I can breathe again.  Thankfully, some genius person invented spring break.  One week to ease the perpetual headache.  One week to be stress free.  One week to spend time with my two favorites!  I'm so excited!  I spent yesterday with Keely, my nephew, and my mother-in-law.  I didn't ever think (not even once) about picking up a school book.  It was liberating!  In honor of spring-break, here's a list of things that I would like to do this week (or sometime in the not so distant future)!

I want to spend lots of time playing with this gorgeous little person.  She's my favorite.  :)

I plan to finish knitting a bow I've been working on.  I get a row in here and a row in there, but I really want to finish it this week!

It would be really awesome to make something/read something/see something relating to this movie.  It looks so gorgeous.

We've wanted to take Keely to the zoo forever.  Hopefully it will stay nice outside all week and we can finally have our chance!  And a ridiculously cute photo op with a large cat wouldn't hurt either.  ;)

We are also planning to see Alkaline Trio with our best friend and Keely's Godmommy Gab!  We're excited to have a night just to hang out with friends.  Hopefully I can relax knowing Keely is safe and sound with her grandparents.

I could never spend too much time with the handsome man pictured here.  We can't wait to have a couple of days together that are not filled with him taking Keely out so that I can take a bunch of tests.

We may even get some shopping in and there have been whispers of a drive into Wildwood.  It's not open for season yet, but there's always some tasty restaurant open, and the Boardwalk is hauntingly beautiful when it's all deserted.  Needless to say, I am very excited at the prospect of my one week of freedom.

Our 1st Molar!

Brandon's valentine surprise consisted of 20 lovingly folded hearts from rectangles of paper.  Each one had something I love about him.  I used pink yarn tied in a bow to hang them up all around or bedroom.  There are still about 15 hanging up because they look pretty and he doesn't want to take them all down.  :-D

In unrelated news, this last week was pretty miserable.  There was a day with a high fever.  A few days of one very miserable toddler.  And it's probably a good thing that we decided against selling Keely to the nice group of traveling gypsies since she finally broke her first molar!  She has nine teeth now.

In totally unrelated news, I wish that the Skunkboy Creatures Etsy would have these again:

Although...maybe at a time when my budget for ridiculously cute narwhal plushies is higher....like 70 bucks higher.  And on that note, I will say good night because I have a date with some very gossipy ladies on Wisteria Lane tonight.  ;)

V-Day

Valentine's Day is coming up in just a couple of days now.  Which means I have a ton of projects in my mind that I would like to do as surprises for Brandon, but of course I will probably fail at accomplishing most of these projects.  I'll let you know how it goes after Sunday.  We will, of course, be ordering pizza that night (we're suckers for tradition) and Brandon will be working all day anyway.  Our big plans are for later in the week.  Maggiano's is super delicious and it's been forever since I've been there so I'm super excited.  Now I just have to finish some pesky school work and begin trying to do something sweet to let my husband know that even if I don't spend money on him, I still love him.

Watson Adventures

I just found out about these awesome scavenger hunts called Watson Adventures.  They have scavenger hunts throughout different cities and museums.  Some are to learn more about the area, while some are to solve a mystery.  I'm a total dork but just the idea of how much fun this seems like makes me giddy like a school girl.  So now, we are talking about either doing one of these overwhelmingly awesome scavenger hunts or going to a mystery dinner theater for my birthday.  Both sound awesome...it just depends on how lazy we're feeling.

We Are in the Four Percent!

You know how iPhones have an app for...EVERYTHING?  Well, after having Keely I discovered that vaccines are much the same way.  Mumps?  There's a vacc for that!  Measles?  One for that too!  Chicken pox?  Heck yes there's a vaccine for that!  Well, Keely got her chicken pox vaccine last week.  Apparently something like four percent of children will have a mild rash caused by the vaccine consisting of about 10 chicken pox.  Yeah...10 seems about right...for the amount on her right cheek!  The kid is covered in chicken pox.  I'm just glad that she didn't have seizures or any more serious side effects.

Fortunately, they don't seem to be bothering her, because I was allll sorts of ready to break this idea out.  Remember this?

That is the episode of Friends where Phoebe has Chicken Pox and they tape oven mitts to her hands to keep her from scratching.  Okay...I wasn't really going to do it, but it probably works really well.

Drowninggggg

I feel like I am drowning in school work so I decided to take a short break to come over here.  I've been in class for about 2 weeks now and I really don't think I've ever read so much in my entire life.  Seriously.  Have you ever taken a Philosophy class?  They are so enriching and wonderful and if you want any spare time don't ever take one because they will literally absorb your entire life.  I am currently taking 2.  Wonderful.  On the bright side, I have this fantastic new computer for which to take all of my online classes on.  It's magical and I love it.  And it doesn't hurt that when I turn it on I get to look at this lovely background courtesy of Kurt Halsey's artwork.

Looking around at Kurt Halsey's photobucket page is one of my favorite things to do.  And now I must be off to read about Marx and Emerson.  And never ever finish reading....EVER.

Vacation?

Well, I just got back from Illinois with Keely the other day.  I have a ton of school work piling up already and school just started last Monday!  I am not quite ready to pack up the winter clothes yet, but I will admit I have been longing to go to the beach these last few days.

That is a picture of Keely and me last year in Wildwood.  I am so excited to go back this year!  We might even take off for a couple of days by ourselves...sans the babe.  We'll see how that works out.  With or without Keely, we will be going!

Headband or something like it....

Soooo...I finished my first knit project.  It's a headband...or at least it somewhat resembles a headband.

That is the back of the "headband" on what I refer to as "my hair".  Give me a break, by 8 pm the makeup is off and I have given up on my dreams of perfectly coiffed hair hours before.

Yeah...we're not gonna talk about the hair...especially not from the front view.  At least I saved you having to look at my glasses covered, not made up face.  Anyways, I think I kind of like it in a somewhat hippyish way.  I'm almost positive that is only because I made it myself.

If you can dream it, then you can achieve it.

Here are my goals for 2010.  Now that they are posted I actually have to hold myself accountable for them.  Kinda scary.  I'm pretty excited about it though.  I'm super excited to see Keely in Elsie's snow day hat.  The D.I.Y. can be found here.  It seems like it should be pretty easy.  And painting my nails shouldn't be that hard...until you factor in a toddler.  Add a toddler into any situation and all bets are off.

Those nail polishes would satisfy my urge to own all things Hello Kitty and they are super cute.  However, they are a bit out of my price range as far as a synthetic coating on my nails that will inevitably peel off goes.  I'm also really excited to add more sillisculpts to our collection.

They're so cute and we haven't found a new one in a while.  I think finding them is my favorite part.  And now I must be off so that I can procrastinate on these goals for at least the next 11 months or so.

I Want to Embroider Our World

Sometime this  year I have big plans.  Oh yes, plans of great magnitude.  What are these plans you ask?  Well, I plan on buying this:

That my friends, is the Kurt Halsey embroidery pattern from Sublime Stitching.  It is so very sweet that I would embroider it everywhere I could find.  Which shouldn't be a problem since we have a profound love for all things Kurt Halsey in this home.

That sweet little piece of jewelry is the necklace that my wonderful husband bought me just out of the kindness of his heart on our daughter's first birthday.  I wear it all the time.  It is from here.  I love it so much.  Add onto that two Kurt Halsey tattoos that the husband has.  And a planned tattoo for myself.  Sure, we might be a little Kurt Halsey crazy, but how could you not love him?

Monday, January 4, 2010

Oh, hello there.

New blog.  It feels so...so...new?  Alright then, moving on.  I should introduce myself for all of my loyal readers.  (Hello dear husband o' mine).  I'm Erin.  I am the mom of a one year old girl.  I hate the voice of whoever sings on all fisher price battery operated toys.  I like to attempt to knit.  I'm not very good at it, but I would like to be.  I am currently attempting to make an audaciously pink scarf, and a cute headband.  I have wild dreams of being crafty, and knowing how to sew, dress myself, scrapbook, decorate, and cook everything in my life to perfection.  However, I have very little talent in the "craft" department, and I am lucky if my clothes go together, and my grilled cheese does not need to have the burnt part scraped off.  Luckily my wonderful husband is actually a very good cook and makes a living off of it.  I am going to attempt to keep up with this blog to chronicle all of the exciting adventures that occur in our lives.

P.S. I also love pretty pictures of things.

Like this picture.  From here.  Someday I hope to have lots of yarn in pretty colors.
